Choosing a bar fridge
A bar fridge fits beneath the counter: typically 85–90 cm high, with glass or solid doors and shelves for bottles. It keeps drinks close to the bartender; glass doors show the contents without opening the fridge.
Compare the number of doors (1–3), hinged or sliding doors, and the compressor position. A left- or right-hand compressor can sit at the end of the bar rather than beneath the working area. Check suitability for warm bars, including climate class 4–5.
What to check
- Space beneath the counter: the height including feet, and the ventilation clearance needed at the rear.
- Doors: sliding doors where space behind the bar is tight; glass where customers need to see the drinks.
- Choose the compressor position to suit the bartender's working area.
- Noise level matters when guests sit close to the fridge.
- Shelf load capacity and clearance for 0.33 l cans or 0.75 l bottles.
Where to use it
For restaurant and café bars, consider a two-door glass-fronted fridge. Sliding doors suit busy clubs and narrow spaces. Where drinks do not need to be displayed, a solid door reduces heat gain.
