Where a site runs a central CO2 refrigeration system, the Scotsman MAR 109 SPLIT can produce scale ice from it. The head connects to a condensing unit or a central low-temperature system using R744 (CO2). Output is up to 648 kg per 24 h at +10 °C air and water, or 504 kg at +32/+21 °C; the flakes are 2 mm thick with 2% residual water.
The evaporator and ice scraper blade are AISI 304 stainless steel, and the food-grade ABS water sump tray comes out easily for cleaning. The electromechanical control panel has electrical protections plus rotation speed and reverse phase controls, with low-water protection and a thermostatic ice level sensor for the bin.
The drive uses a V-belt, and the rounded scotch-brite stainless panels lift off easily for maintenance. An electronic expansion valve, pressure regulating valve and safety valves are supplied. The head is 906 mm wide, 813 mm deep and 520 mm high, weighing 95 kg net and 112 kg gross.
On a three-phase 400 V / 50 Hz / 3N supply it draws 190 W and uses 4.2 kWh per 24 h, excluding the condensing unit; water use is 23.3 l/h. The storage bin is purchased separately.
